Saturday 3rd July had Whangamata playing Paeroa Old Boys at Paeroa @ 2pm.  The weather was fine but the field still slippery under foot.

Whanga started well and held Paeroa in their half with a number of opportunities going astray and not finishing.  The scrums we were winning both ours and their ball.  The lineouts worked well enough but Paeroa were competing at all lineouts and spoilt a few!  The team finally scored to No.8 James Lovegrove.  Score 5-Nil.  Whanga went back on attack and again James crashed across the line.  Score 10-Nil.  It was the backs turn next and Crocky scored with the conversion to Eli.  17-Nil at Half Time.

Paeroa came out from the break a different side and held the territory advantage for most of the second half.  Personal changes in the front row evened things up.  Big Chanel got angry and was pushing bodies away to get to the person he thought had kneed him in the back - he got yellow carded for that!  They were awarded a penalty close to the posts which they got.  Score 17-3.  Paeroa came close to scoring a couple of times but some good cover tackes by Sammy at Fullback and Big Brad the prop stopped them.  Whangas defence held throughout the rest of the half.  FINAL SCORE 17-3.

Coromandel defaulted to North and Waihi had the Bye this week.
