Senior B First Home Game

Whangamata Senior B had their first home game on Saturday 27th to a good Beach Hop crowd on a sunny day and a slight breeze in favour of the Waihi team in the first half. They used that advantage to lead at half time by 13 points to nil with a penalty and a converted try. They may have been further ahead if they had fifteen players playing but ill discipline saw one of their senior players RED CARDED!
Whangamata made a come back in the second half to be leading with two tries and a penalty 15 - 13 with only ten minites to go. Waihi then scored a good set piece try around the front of the lineout to score in the corner which was converted 20 - 15. Whangamata had a number of opportunities to score but failed to cross their line. Waihi played a gutsy game with only fourteen men and deserved their win.
